Give a Gift of Satire for Xmas

Every election campaign gets the satire it deserves. 2026 has also had AI image generation, something I have had more fun with than expected.

I’m now offering the best of my images for sale, just in time for Christmas. They make a great stocking filler. They’re even better for Secret Santa, if you’ve decided to blow the budget on the colleague you like least – I mean most.

Each canvas in this series began life as a satirical illustration for my political blog on this website. Most were published here. A few never made it into the blog or social media but still make me laugh. They all imagine our political leaders in moments that never happened.

The figures are AI-generated likenesses, not photographs. They were invented for comedy and commentary in the long tradition of the political cartoon. Nobody depicted has sat for them, endorsed them or been consulted. I suspect most of the subjects would rather I hadn’t made them.

These images belong firmly to their moment. The technology will move on within a year or two, and in all likelihood so will several of the people in them. Think of each canvas as a time capsule from the 2026 election year, worth keeping regardless of whether you liked the result or not. Historians will thank you. Your whānau and colleagues may not.
